Work on the A2 Ramsey to Laxey will take place in two phases between Dhoon Glen and the Rest and Be Thankful.

While the first would be carried out under temporary traffic lights, the second would require a road closure, the Department of Infrastructure said.

The work would create a clear passage for high vehicles, particularly double-decker buses, the department said.

During the first phase of the project, a speed limit of 30mph (48km/h) will be in force on the stretch of road between Dhoon Glen and the Maughold Church Road junction.

Works will be carried out incrementally under temporary two-way traffic lights between 09:30 and 15:30 GMT until 8 December.

During the second phase of the works part of the coast road between the Rest and Be Thankful and the Maughold Church Road junction will be closed during working hours between 11 and 15 December.

A diversion via the Maughold Church Road junction and Hibernia will be in put in place during that period.

HGV drivers have been asked to consider using other routes between Ramsey and Douglas during the closure periods.
